1. About RentScanner

RentScanner operates an online marketplace connecting guests with independent hosts of properties, cars and boats. Unless expressly stated otherwise, RentScanner is not the owner, lessor, travel organiser, vehicle operator or charter provider of a listing. The booking contract for the listed service is between the guest and host.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a binding contract. Account information must be accurate and current. You are responsible for account security and activity performed through your account. We may require email, phone, identity, business or payment-account verification.

3. Listings and marketplace content

Hosts must provide accurate titles, descriptions, locations, prices, availability, photographs, capacity, rules and material limitations. Content must not be misleading, unlawful, discriminatory or infringe third-party rights. RentScanner may moderate, translate, rank, suspend or remove content, but moderation does not transfer responsibility from the host.

4. Booking formation

A booking request is not confirmed until the applicable confirmation step is completed. For host-confirmed listings, the host must first accept the request; for instant-booking listings, acceptance may occur automatically. The guest must then complete any required payment. The booking page and confirmation notice identify the dates, price, currency, parties and cancellation terms.

5. Payments, fees and currencies

Payments may be processed through Stripe Connect. RentScanner may use destination charges and deduct a disclosed application fee. UK listings are normally charged in GBP and eligible European listings in EUR. Your bank or payment provider may apply its own conversion or processing costs.

A host amount may be allocated to the host's Stripe Connect balance and remain a host pending payout until after check-in. This is delayed marketplace payout processing and is not escrow. Stripe may delay, pause or reverse transfers or payouts for verification, risk, reserves, refunds, disputes or legal requirements.

6. Cancellations and refunds

The listing terms and our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy apply. Where mandatory consumer law gives you stronger rights, those rights prevail. Refund eligibility is not created merely by failing to use a confirmed booking.

7. User conduct

You must not misuse the platform, scrape data unlawfully, bypass fees, manipulate reviews, impersonate others, send harmful content, interfere with security, use a listing unlawfully or move an introduced transaction off-platform to avoid payment obligations.

8. Reviews and communications

Reviews must reflect a genuine experience and may be moderated. Marketplace messages may be stored to operate bookings, prevent abuse and resolve disputes. Users must not publish private or sensitive information without authority.

9. Intellectual property

RentScanner and its software, branding and interface are protected by intellectual-property laws. You retain ownership of content you submit but grant RentScanner a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format, translate and display it for operating and promoting the marketplace.

10. Suspension and termination

We may restrict or close accounts and remove listings where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, non-payment, legal compliance or material breach. Existing payment, refund, dispute, record-keeping and liability obligations survive termination.

11. Disclaimers and liability

Listings are supplied by independent hosts. To the extent permitted by law, RentScanner does not guarantee that every listing, user, availability entry or third-party service is error-free. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence.

12. Governing law and complaints

Subject to mandatory consumer protections, these terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and disputes are subject to the courts with jurisdiction under applicable law. Before starting formal proceedings, contact info@rentscanner.com so we can try to resolve the issue.

13. Changes and language

We may update these terms prospectively and will publish the revised date. Material changes will be communicated where required. Translations are provided for convenience; where lawful, the English version controls if versions conflict.

14. User-uploaded images and copyright

You may upload only content that you own or are authorised to use. By uploading content, you confirm that its use does not infringe copyright, privacy, trademark or other third-party rights and grant RentScanner the operational licence described in the Copyright Policy. RentScanner may remove or disable access to disputed content, preserve evidence and restrict repeat infringers. To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for substantiated third-party claims and losses caused by content you uploaded in breach of these terms.
